By car from São Paulo (aproximatly 300 kms and 4 hours driving)
There are 3 options:
- Route I: Rodovia Dutra or Ayrton Senna/Carvalho Pinto* till São José dos Campos. Then, Rodovia Tamoios till Caraguatatuba and, after that, BR-101 (Rio-Santos) till Paraty, passing by Ubatuba.
Obs.: Although it´s possible to appreciate the longest coastline, this is the slowest way, mainly between Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba.
- Route II: Rodovia Dutra or Ayrton Senna/Carvalho Pinto* till Taubaté. Then, Rodovia Osvaldo Cruz till Ubatuba and, after that, BR-101 (Rio-Santos) till Paraty.
Obs.: The driver must take a lot of attention and care in the sharp curves along the mountain ridge. But it´s only 7 kms of this beautiful Peace of the Serra do Mar (Sierra of the Sea).
- Route III: Rodovia Dutra or Ayrton Senna/Carvalho Pinto* till Guaratinguetá. Then, take the direction of Cunha and, after that, keep driving in the direction of Paraty. Arriving in Paraty, go 10 kms in the direction of Ubatuba.
Obs.: This is the shortest route. Between Cunha and Paraty, in the Serra (Sierra) da Bocaina, depending on the visibility, the best view to the Bay of Paraty can be appreciated.
